Our Curriculum
Our curriculum places children at the heart of all we do, drawing from their experiences within the family and wider community.
We recognize Te Whariki, the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, as the cornerstone of our educational practice. It directs and motivates our interactions with both children and adults.
Our program is fun, engaging, challenging and stimulating, offering each learner unique chances for exploration and discover. It will empower children to develop into confident, capable learners and communicators, adept critical thinkers, and adept problem-solvers, laying robust foundations for their future. Our program encourages children to explore and develop at their own pace through planned and spontaneous experiences.
Our Centre includes tikanga and te reo Maori in the curriculum with special attention to the Tokelau language and aganuku.
Spontaneous Play
Every day, our children encounter an array of opportunities to guide and steer their own learning, centered on their own interests.
Free play encompasses spontaneous, child-initiated activities that foster the growth of their imaginations as they explore and engage with their world.
This play naturally arises from children's innate curiosity and thirst for discovery.
Planned Play
Teachers provide teacher led experiences by providing opportunities for children to engage in various activities that build on their interests that include forging community links with the wider community.
We incorporate key national events, Christian calendar festivities, annual language week celebrations in our planned curriculum.
